Local artist: Sonia Rao’s SF Album Release Party is this Friday, Sept 16th

After an amazing debut in Los Angeles last week, Sonia Rao will be celebrating the release of her album ‘Calm Her’ this Friday Sept 16th at the Hotel Utah in San Francisco. “San Francisco is where I wrote this album, so it was important to me that I release it there,” says Sonia. Local artist, Sonia Rao, releases her first album ‘Calm Her’

Today, singer Sonia Rao is releasing her first album on iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby. The release of this album demonstrates that local economies have the power to support their own artists. ‘Calm Her’ was the result of an amazing fundraising effort in which fans, friends, and fellow artists raised thousands of dollars to help Sonia create her album.

Sonia says that, “as an independent artist, the only way that my songs and this music will be heard is through word of mouth.” Spoken like a true grassroots sensation. Local artists like Sonia rely on their communities for encouragement, inspiration, and to spread the word.  You can check out Sonia’s music on YouTube, and see her live on Sept 7th in LA and on Sept 16th in SF.
